The book haul of book hauls

This Christmas, I was so fortunate as to receive so many books that I had been wanting for ages now as well as a Barnes & Noble gift card so that I could get even more. In no way is this bragging, I’m just very excited about all my new reading material and thought I would share what I got with all of you because I know I always love a good book haul.

Whilst opening all of these books on Christmas morning my dad said “well she’ll have enough books to at least get her through the next month.” My family knows me so well.

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

In the first installment of the Outlander series, we follow Claire Randall who, on her second honeymoon with her husband after the end of the war, is mysteriously transported back several year… to 1743.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

This is the companion novel to the beloved contemporary Fangirl. In Fangirl, Cath had been writing a popular fan fiction of a best-selling series similar to Harry Potter in our world, but with a couple twists to make it her own.

Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

Jack the Ripper, who plagued London in 1888 with fear, is now shed in a different light — in the light of love. Considering he mutilated at least five women, cutting out their organs and such, it’s strange to think of a woman wanting to be near him, but lo and behold, we were given Stalking Jack the Ripper, because in YA fiction, the more dangerous the boy the hotter the boy appears.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

Speaking of London, in this novel there’s four versions of the city. There’s Grey London — which is practically London as we know it (magic-less), Red London — where magic is thriving along with its people, White London — where a magical war is plaguing the land, and Black London — which isn’t spoken of.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

So, I was convinced to buy this book by Booktube and I really know nothing about it. What I do know is that there is a stolen wife, enslaved people, and lots of enemies (and I got all of it from the back of the book).

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden

This book, strongly driven by Russian lore, follows Vasilisa who must defy the wishes of her new step-mother to keep her family safe. And to do so, she must call on the dangerous gifts she always kept concealed.

A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir

The third installment to the Ember in the Ashes quartet, and based on the second book, it’s going to be a crazy, emotional ride. I feel like there are going to be so many answers and so much at risk in this book before it all comes to a close in the next release.

Rebel Spring by Morgan Rhodes

As the second novel in the Falling Kingdoms series, I am immensely excited to see where Rhodes takes these characters. So much was lost and so much was rebuilt in the first book, and I believe this book will involve just as much turmoil.

The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh

As you can tell, I’m trying to work my way through some series and tie up others. I believe The Wrath and the Dawn is a duology so I cannot wait to finally finish this two-part series.

Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

Imagine revolting against a ruler only to gain no ground against him at every turn (sounds familiar, am I right, America?). Well in Vin’s world, just that has been happening for the last thousand years under the rain of the immortal Lord Ruler who cast the world into ash and mist and misery. But hope has not been lost.

Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas

Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas

I feel that neither of these two need much explanation as they are the sixth and seventh installments to the Throne of Glass series. This series lights a fire in my heart in the most literal sense and it makes me so happy to finally be able to continue it.
