editing

Writing has been my passion since I learned how to do it, so I would love to help others who feel the same. Building a relationship with each writer is important to me as I only want to bring out more you in your story while making your work the best it can be.

Services Offered

Line editing

   Developmental editing

Blog post editing

For all services, I will provide a free 400-word sample of what you may expect. For developmental editing, I will give a rough break-down of how I would tackle your project specifically

Think of editing like painting a wall. Developmental editing is the primer; it smooths the surface and creates a strong base. Line editing is the first coat of paint, and here you can really start to see it all coming together. Copyediting/proofreading is the second coat to fill any gaps and polish it.

Basic copyediting / proofreading

$75 per 5,000 words || $0.015 per word

Includes a basic level of editing mostly limited to grammatical changes and syntax errors per 10 pages. A free 400-word sample using your work may be provided upon request.

Recommended for books that have already received developmental edits and line edits or other projects such as articles, essays, etc.

Line editing

$100 per 5,000 words || $0.020 per word

This package is exactly how it sounds—line editing. Along with basic copyediting for grammar or syntax errors, per-line and per-paragraph changes and suggestions will be made, and plot holes, inconsistencies, and readability will be checked for. A free 400-word sample using your work may be provided upon request. A memo of considerations for changes or enhancements in terms of plot, characters, writing style, or world development will be given as often as seen fit, and these suggestions may be discussed and flushed-out with you if requested.

If your book has not yet received developmental editing, it is strongly recommended before beginning line editing.

Developmental editing

$125 per 5,000 words || price may change upon inspection of piece

This form of editing is a first round of edits post finalizing your draft yourself. This editing service includes plot, world, and character development assistance to avoid cliches, prevent dull or unnecessary aspects, monitor for inconsistencies, and highlight your imagination. Once the story’s basis is well flushed-out and plot holes have been filled, line editing will begin at a varied rate. This service involves the most direct work with the author and the most depth in editing. A free 400-word sample using your work may be provided upon request. A memo of considerations for changes or enhancements in terms of plot, characters, writing style, or world development will be given as often as seen fit, and these suggestions may be discussed and flushed-out with you if requested.

What to Expect

I will never impede on your vision or remove your voice from the story because I understand what it feels like to cherish your creative work. You have the right to disregard any and all suggestions and changes I make because it is, after all, your story.

All rights are retained by the author and are in no way owned by or accredited to me and it is not required for you to mention my assistance in the project on any platform. However, you will be a life-long friend if I’m featured in your acknowledgments.

Specific time frames will be given as each project is different and every week brings changes to my availability. Every 10 pages submitted can typically be expected after one to two business days depending on my schedule and the amount of editing required or bought.

I believe in learning during the editing phase, so I may explain the reasoning behind any suggestions or changes and provide relevant resources that may be of interest to you.

I want your work to succeed as much as you do, therefore, I will not tread lightly. There isn’t a mean, rude, or cynical bone in my body, so you are assured that you will never be mistreated, but I am not afraid to mark up your pages.

What I’m Looking For

While I will accept any idea or manuscript that strikes my interest, my passion is in young adult and adult fiction—specifically fantasy, fantasy romance, science-fiction, & historical fiction. Would I still love to work with you on your contemporary romance? Most likely. I love books.

Authors must always be willing to accept critique no matter the toll it may take on your heart to see your work edited. Please keep in mind that I’m only trying to help you and mean no insult to you or your work—so please be kind.

My Experience

I received my degree in Journalism from the University of Florida in 2021 where I worked with several publications and newsrooms to write and edit content. Two of those publications include Her Campus UFL and WUFT News.

During my time at UF, I began offering my freelance editing services to authors. You can view a list of previous projects below.

Since then, I have held various positions in marketing, mostly in social media, blog, and editing. Currently, I am a freelance/contract content creator, developing social media and blog content for influencers and businesses. I won’t bore you with all the details, but if you are interested, you may view my resume here.
